Beautiful nails are totally possible and fairly simple to achieve if you know how.
Unfortunately, when we start our journey towards having healthy nails, the internet bombards us with complicated information that promotes mostly time-consuming and expensive techniques.
After having tried and tested countless techniques to achieve the best results, I have narrowed my process down to only a few simple techniques.
My methods are not only easy to follow, they also won’t take up heaps of your time or break the bank. So, if you’re ready for gorgeous nails, follow these top three tips.
1. Know your essential tools and when to use them.
It’s a common belief that if you want stunning nails, you have to go to a salon. However, this is simply not true. You only need a few simple tools to keep your nails looking great.
- Nail files
My number one essential tool is a nail file. It’s a must if you want to have that perfectly finished look. The reason for this is because filing your nails allows you to keep away any chips, which if left undealt with, will almost always result in a broken nail. A file is also the perfect tool to achieve that perfect nail shape.
- Cuticle Stick
The next must-have tool is a quality cuticle stick. I use mine once a week to push back my cuticles. I do this after I hop out of the shower and my cuticles are soft.
Cuticles are delicate. I know a lot of people love cutting them. When using cuticle cutters, just remember to be gentle. If you go too far you can actually hurt the base of your nail, leaving them vulnerable to bacteria. Cuticle nippers are great for removing dead skin.
- Quality nail clippers/ scissors
Although it may sound like an obvious choice, my final tool is a pair of sharp nail clippers or scissors. The keyword here is sharp. Blunt nail clippers can actually do far more damage than good and may cause your nails to tear or break.
2. Give your beautiful nails the treatment they deserve
The right treatments will take you a long way towards healthy, strong nails. A lot of us struggle with soft nails that seem to take forever to grow. Using the right nail treatments can definitely help you overcome these problems.
- TLC
The most important thing you can do for your nails is to keep them clean. A great way to do this is by using a nail brush to gently exfoliate and remove the dead skin around the nails. This will also remove grime that may be stuck underneath your nails. This will give you a fresh base to work on.
- Moisturize
Another crucial treatment is to keep your nails moisturized. Use a hand cream or balm to nourish and hydrate your nails. Do this twice a day and you will start to see improvements in no time. Always make sure you are using acetone-free nail polish remover. This can really help combat dry nails.
- Supplements
My final essential treatment for gorgeous nails is a biotin supplement. Biotin can help strengthen your nails as well as make them grow faster.
- Treatments
Treatments are a great way to give your nails that extra boost! I love the Avon Nails 7-in-1 treatment. It works wonders.
3. Polish – The final touch
When it comes to nail polish, the best advice I can give is to see them as an investment.
Choose a high-quality nail polish brand that will last a lot longer than low-quality products. And, at the end of the day, they will save you money because you won’t have to apply your polish as often.
Quality also means better ingredients – which will be better for your nails. Have you ever used a polish only for your nails to go yellow? It all comes down to quality.
Also, always make sure to use a base and top coat to ensure your polish lasts longer and is more vibrant.
I hope these simple tips will help you figure out a system that works for you. The most important thing is to actually take the time to care for your nails! Would love to hear your top tips in the comments!
